Three dimensional emotions
The spectator has to analyse thoroughly the gold, motives and forms to be able to get through to the heart of the sculpture. If he does not, he just sees a flashy, gold colored, decorative object. The apparently happy objects look like cakes, candy, but the artist put the spectator on the wrong leg. Reinhilde communicates in this series of work about the abuse she herself had to suffer. Interesting is Reinhilde’s relation with the poems of Ivo Konings. They tell her story, they go to the heart of it. She cuts up the poems and transforms them very subtle into a skin, covering the apparently cute little statues. Pain can remain unnoticed.
